Hi I'm Shaun

I was born and raised in Alaska. I'm a real estate developer and I love the outdoors. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the great 907 with my wife and 5 kids! My kids call me Alonzo Hawk (think Herbie Rides Again) but actually I am less interesting and build and own apartments in Alaska. I spend a large portion of my time in work and church meetings and I am almost always tired from waking my teen girls up for early morning seminary and coordinating taxi service with my wife for my kids many activities. But, in the extra time I do have, I love to play in the outdoors with my wife and kids. I enjoy morning runs with my wife, attempting triathlons, running marathons, road biking, trail running, and downhill skiing with the family!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel that the principals and doctrinal truths taught in the Mormon religion are true. Many years ago when I was a young man I had to decide if I wanted to be in or out of the Mormon religion. I felt that this decision would greatly affect my life and what direction I pursued. I knew what my parents thought but I wanted to know for myself if the teachings and beliefs that I had been taught all my life were in fact true. As a determined young man away from my family during my first year of college, one afternoon I went to the nearby mountains to think and pray. Although I didn't see or experience a magnificent heavenly manifestation, I did feel while I prayed that God knew me, wanted what was best for me and would guide me down His paths. I left that mountain with a firm determination to do God's will. Consequently, I decided to serve a two year service mission for the Church in Guatemala. My mission was an incredible experience that helped me understand the power of serving and helping others. I also helped mold me into an acceptable man that one day an awesome woman like my wife would be willing to marry. Through 20+ years of marriage, my understanding and knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown and matured. Through small acts like prayer, scripture reading and service I have come to know that God does answer prayers, He love us, and knows of our challenges. I have also come to know that the truths and message that is found in the Mormon religion is true. I am eternally grateful for that!

How I live my faith

I seek to live my faith by serving others, striving to be a good example (although I am definitely not perfect), and being a devoted father and husband. I have been giving so much and blessed so spectacularly by God that I hope and desire to give back to others.
