Hi I'm Emma Mantilla

I grew up in Roskilde, Denmark. Currently preparing for a mission in Lima, Perú. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Emma and I'm from Denmark. I'm 19 years old and currently preparing for a Spanish speaking mission to the Perú Lima Central Mission. I will be leaving on February 21st. I have 4 siblings. One older and three younger. My dad is Dane and my mom Canadian and part Peruvian. I spend most of my time with family and friends. I really enjoy learning new languages, playing the piano and singing choir. I'm also a BIG fan of Ice Hockey! When I was little my dream was to become a professional Ice Hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. So for me, faith had always been something that came very natural. I knew from the very beginning, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the right church. Not because I understood everything I learnt. But because I felt it. Not once. But several times. I remember my first testimony from I was about 7 years old. It was at one of my good friend's family-birthday parties. We notice one of her cats had been away for a pretty long time. So we started to look for him. I remember us looking for like an hour. No luck. So eventually the entire family started helping us looking for the cat. After searching the entire house (every single closet etc.) I knelt down in one of the Bedrooms and started to pray. I remember having a really bad feeling in the beginning of the prayer, that almost wanted me to stop... but as i continued the prayer I began to feel some sort of spiritually calming, burning feeling... knowing the answer soon would hit me. As I ended the prayer, I stood up and walked straight towards one of the older siblings rooms. Opened a closet (which we had already gone through 2 or 3 times already). And right there in front of us, was the cat we had spent several hours searching. It was at that moment I knew God would always help me and answer my prayers, if I just believe in him. After this experience I decided that I would always try doing my best, so that I would always be able to have that same burning feeling with me everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example for those around me and make them see what blessings the gospel gives to families and individuals. I try to be as Christlike as possible.
