Hi I'm Cassandra

I'm a smiley world traveller, a major music and languages lover and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am one of four hilarious siblings, and grew up travelling the world with my family. I'm a major musicals lover, and can often be seen dramatically bursting into song with my sister, eating ice cream, or hiding away with a good book. I love to hike, draw and am addicted to the piano (If I could have a pocket piano, my life would be complete!). I love to learn new things- be it languages, cultures or fun trivia facts, I love it all!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have felt this great peace and joy in following Christ's teachings. In a world where there is so much confusion, with so many questions and a lack of answers, I found truth in this Church. Because of studying things that are taught here, and trying things out for myself to see if it all works, I found that it certainly does. We CAN receive answers to our big questions. God loves us, and He WILL answer our call. I know He answered mine.

How I live my faith

I love to help and serve others. There are so many different ways to lift and help those around you! In the past at Church, I used to be a youth leader, for ages 12-18. We would organise activities for the youth for every week of the year. It was so much fun because you really got to know and love these incredible young people. They have a light in their eyes, and a smile on their faces, you can just tell they're going to change the world one day. Currently, I'm preparing to serve as a full-time Mormon missionary, and I couldn't be more excited. This faith brings me so much joy, that I want to share it with others, so that they too can feel this happiness and sense of purpose that I feel.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

We read in the Bible, that when Jesus Christ lived on the earth, He established His Church. He loved, lifted and healed people and taught them eternal truths and principles. During His ministry, He gave His apostles the authority to go about and do as He did. This authority is known as the priesthood. After Jesus' ascension into Heaven after His resurrection, these Apostles carried on His work and continued to build up His Church. After Christ's Apostles were killed, there was a great falling away from the truth. Many Church members were killed, or fell away from the truth and because of this, the Lord took His authority, the priesthood, from the earth. Without it, the Church no longer functioned as Christ had established it, and many plain and simple truths were lost. This is known as the Apostasy. In order for these things to return, there needed to be a Restoration of all things. And this started with the Prophet Joseph Smith, through which all of the priesthood authority, the reorganisation of Christ's Church and the plain and simple truths that were once lost were and are now restored once again. Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The term "Mormon" is the nickname given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This came about because we believe the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, Who is the central figure of all our worship. We don't just believe in the Book of Mormon. Nor do we only use the Bible, but we use both books together, as a compound in one as they both stand together to witness and testify of Jesus Christ. You might seem the term, "LDS" used as well, which is an abbreviation for "Latter-Day Saints" Show more Show less
