Hi I'm Susan

I grew up in Arizona. I've raised 6 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 6 children. When they were young I had fun teaching them pre-school. Young children have such wonder about them, and I so enjoy discovering the world with them.I love my 17 grandchildren. One of my favorite things to do with them is to have sweet little herbal tea parties. It is especially fun to plan the parties around a seasonal theme. I enjoy making quilts. I like to plan the patterns and colors with the recipient in mind. I hand quilt, and that gives me many hours to think about the recipient. I love to sing. I sing alto in choirs. I also like to sing when I'm happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to learn about the gospel from the moment of my birth, and I was baptized as an 8 year old. I was priveleged to be raised in a home with loving parents and siblings who also believed in God and Christ and His atonment. As an adult my testimony that I am a child of God, and that He has a plan for me continues to grow. I am grateful to make covenants with Him. I am grateful for the Atonement that allows me to grow, learn, make mistakes, repent, and grow again. I am grateful for the Priesthood that has blessed my life. Because of the Priesthood here on earth I am able to make binding and eternal covenants with Heavenly Father. I have a testimony that the earth was created by a loving Heavenly Father so His children could leave Him for a season, and have an opportunity to make choices using their own agency. I believe that the gospel has been here on the earth since the time of Adam. There was a season of apostasy when the full gospel was not here on earth. I believe that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ came to the earth and spoke to Joseph Smith when he inquired of them which church he should join. They said to join none of them. Then They began restoring the full gospel to the earth again, including the full power of the priesthood. This restored gospel is administered through the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. There have been prophets on the earth since this restoration, and I believe they speak the words that God asks them to speak, and they administer His church on the earth. I believe that the sealing power that has been restored to the earth will seal my family together forever. I believe that I have to do my best to grow and learn, be obedient, repent and make covenants. When I follow God's will and commandments, then I will be blessed to be forgiven and be able to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again. I am also grateful for the Holy Ghost who is the 3rd member of the Godhead, and who helps me remeber who I am.

How I live my faith

I participate in my community mostly through church activities. I work with the youth, mostly with young women and their adult leaders. I had the opportunity to participate in a Pioneer Trek Handcart Re-enactment last summer. We dressed in bonnets, skirts and aprons, and hiked 30 miles during a week. I was able to talk with the young women about the spiritual side of being out in the woods, their relationship with God, their testimonies of Christ and His Atonement, and also about who they are. We continue to have meetings where I am focusing on helping the young women know who they are. I also visit some of the women from our area and talk withthem about who they are, and I get to build friendships with them. I spend time writing my own family history, and gathering histories from my ancestors. I share these histories with my children. This Is one way for me to help them know who they are.
