Hi I'm Berrett

I am a dentist who is retiring to serve a mission in the Australia Brisbane Mission. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My wife and I have raised 6 children and we have 16 grandchildren. I love basketball and volleyball and woodworking. I enjoy building furniture, turning bowls, and anything that lets me see the beautiful grain of wood. I have practiced dentistry for 43 years and have 2 sons and a son-in-law who work with me in the practice. All of my children live close so I get to spend a lot of time going to games, recitals, and being with family.

Why I am a Mormon

In preparation for serving our mission I just reread the Book of Mormon. It is in this book that I base my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He atoned for our sins, and that He is the only way back to our Heavenly Father. He has told us that the only way to know this is by the testimony of the Holy Ghost. The Book of Mormon is a second witness of Christ. It is pure in its doctrine and so plain in its teachings that there is no mistaking its message is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I received a testimony of it the first time that I read it and in every subsequent reading. It is something that I cannot deny. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives us opportunities to grow our faith and to serve our fellowman, and in doing this we are serving the Lord. I have faith that this is God's plan to help us, His children, to grow and progress so that we can be more charitable and loving and eventually more like Him.

How I live my faith

Because I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and our perfect example I try to follow Him. I served a mission in Uruguay in 1964-66 and a part-time mission at the Family History Center in 2007-08. Over the years I have worked with the youth as a teacher and scoutmaster and as a bishop of a single-adult congregation or ward. I have coached many youth baseball and basketball teams
