Hi I'm Mathew

I was born and raised in Utah. I like running, river rafting and slot canyoning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I just graduated from high school, I did so a semester early so that I could serve a LDS mission. During high school I participated in Cross-Country and Track. I've done a 200 mile relay-race named Ragnar twice, and loved it both times! I hope to be a runner the rest of my life. An interest that has been sparked in me these last two years is a like for horses. I've worked as a helper and welder for a horse trainer and he has taught me a ton about horses. Now that I am graduated from high school I am going to serve a mission in the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission for two years! I'm super excited to share with others what I believe and to help them in whatever way I can. After my mission I am going to college at SUU in Southern Utah. There I am planning on studying farming, residential construction, and music tech. I've played the piano since I was seven and love music, eventually I want to learn how to write my own.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have been members their whole lives, and because of that I have been too! They have taught me everything they know about the gospel and have always admonished me to keep God's commandments. For this I am Eternally grateful. Because of my parents I now know of myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church on the earth today, organized like the one He established during his ministry in Jerusalem and Galilea. I know that His church has been restored in this latter days by his chosen prophet, Joseph Smith. I know God's power and authority are once again on the earth and that the only man, at this time, that holds all of the keys of that priesthood for this dispensation is President Russell M. Nielsen. I know that God lives and that He gave his Only Begotten as a sacrifice for all mankind, that if we repent and keep God's commandments we might be saved. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and died for us that we might live glorified forever, and that Christ has risen and Lives this day and directs His church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. One way is by going to church very Sunday. I believe this is a Holy day and I try to treat it as such by worshiping my Savior in church. We sing hymns, partake of the sacrament and learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of my callings in my ward is to play the organ for the hymns, I love this assignment! Another of my callings is as a family history consultant. As such I help others my age to learn how to navigate familysearch.org and how to find their ancestors and attach records to them. Once a month I go home teaching with my Dad. We have 4 families that we go to and share a short message with and help with anything they need. On Wednesdays I used to go to activities with the young men and young women in my ward. Sometimes we would do service and sometimes we would play around and have fun! (service was always lots of fun too) Every Morning I say my prayers and read the Book of Mormon; Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and before I go to bed at night I say another prayer.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Since I know what I know and have a testimony of Jesus Christ it is my natural obligation to share that with others. Also; because the gospel brings me so much Joy and I want others to experience that same Joy, now and for Eternity. As part of that I have been asked to give two years of my life for the sole purpose of sharing this gospel and representing Jesus Christ, and I have gladly accepted to do so. Show more Show less
