Hi I'm Alex

I grew up in California. I'm an Eagle scout, I recently graduated high school, and I'm preparing for college. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I recently moved to Idaho, but I grew up in California. In high school, I was really into music and band. I played in our school’s marching and Jazz bands. I was also the drum major for the marching band for three years in a row. I love boy scout, and I was involved in the program for seven years. When I was sixteen I earned my eagle scout award. Since I graduated high school, I’ve been preparing to go to college. I’m also leaving to go on a mission for two years, but when I get back I’m slated to start school at Brigham Young University Idaho. Some of my hobbies include video games, gun shooting, solving rubik’s cubes for speed, and surfing when I was still in California.

Why I am a Mormon

There are a few main reasons why I choose to be a member of this church. First is our belief in modern day prophets. It makes sense to me that God would give us prophets so he can teach us and help us in these days of confusion and turmoil. Prophets since Adam have been speaking and teaching on behalf of God, so why wouldn’t there be prophets teaching us here today? The next reason as to why I’m a member is my firm belief in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is an amazing book filled with teachings of Christ. The book is another testament of Jesus Christ, and every time I read it my belief in Him and his atonement grows. It’s a real book of scripture written a couple thousand years ago to teach us today and strengthen our testimonies of our savior, Jesus Christ. The last reason I’m a member is the fact that this church makes me happy. For a while in my youth, I was rebellious and I wasn’t living the gospel. I thought I was happy and having fun, living free. But since I’ve come back to the gospel and started following the Lord’s commandments again, I’ve found so much more happiness. Some people see our church and think our rules are many and they take away our freedom. But really, it’s the opposite. By following the Lord’s teachings, I am freer that I ever was when I was disobedient. The commandments are guidelines for a happy life, and they give us freedom. For example, by following the word of wisdom, I am able to be free from addictions I might otherwise get trapped in. I testify that this church is true. The doctrine and principals taught in the Book and Mormon and by prophets are just as true as things taught in the Bible. Christ is our savior, and by living the teachings of His church on the Earth, this church, we can become more like Him and live with him and our families for eternity after we die. I know these things are true beyond a shadow of a doubt, and that’s why I’m a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend my church meetings every Sunday, and try my best to participate in lessons. I read the scriptures daily and try to learn something new every time I read. I study hard so that when an opportunity comes to share the gospel, I’ll be ready. I recently was called to serve as a missionary for two years in Arkansas. I’m so excited to spread the joy of the gospel, teach others about Christ, and serve the community in any way I can during those two years.
