Hi I'm Gideon

I was born and raised in Alaska. I have two little brothers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Eagle Scout and I love to spend time outside. Camping, hiking, and kayaking are my three favorite things to do out of doors. I played football and wrestled in high school, and now am helping coach wrestling at the school. I also enjoy good books, such as Lord of the Rings, and spending time with my little brothers. I plan to go to collage and study math and physics.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church and in doing so I've grown to love it. By following the teachings of Jesus Christ who lives and leads this church I've been able to live a happy and productive life. I know that Jesus loves me, that he died for me, and through him I can be redeemed. Because of that, I love Him. I know that Jesus restored his church on the earth today through a prophet named Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith translated, is the word of God and has been given to us to learn of Christ and his teachings, along with the Bible. Reading the Book of Mormon has changed my life. As I've read and then followed the principles taught therein I've been able to draw closer to my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, and thus feel of their love for me. That love is what keeps me coming back for more. Because I've felt of the joy and happiness that my Savior can offer me I wish to stay in that love forever, and I hope that you will come and feel of that love as well.

How I live my faith

I participate in a group of the church called the Young Single Adults. We meet together in our own building and conduct our own meetings but are still part of the church as a whole in Fairbanks. In this group I have been assigned to help, teach, and watch over a group of other young men who are my age. I do this by giving lessons during Sunday School and providing assistance and aid to those who need it. For instance I've shoveled driveways, plowed snow, chopped wood and simply given advice to those who are new to the area. Basically, I was assigned to be a friend.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a man who as a boy wanted to know which of the many churches in his town were true. He went into the woods by his house and prayed and was personally visited by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph was then called to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth. Later in his life he translated the Book of Mormon and reestablished the Church of Jesus Christ through revelation and the power of God. Show more Show less
