Hi I'm Jan

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and joined the church with my husband in Anaheim, CA. I am a Mormon and a convert.

About Me

I have been a member for over 40 years now, and I am retired. My husband and I are about to serve an 18-month mission in the Fiji Islands and are very excited. We are the parents of 4 children and 12 grandchildren, who are all so happy we are going to the South Seas. I am a pianist and singer and so will be also teaching music and piano to those who are interested on the island of Viti Levu. We are so eager to meet the wonderful people and learn about their amazing culture and devotion to Christ and the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because a dentist I worked for (while my husband was in Vietnam as a Marine) began telling me about the restored gospel and helped teach us the lessons when my husband came home. Once I knew it was true, I was thrilled and we joined it together as young newlyweds and have never looked back. It has made all the difference in my life and that of our family, beyond all expectations!

How I live my faith

I am an organist and sing in my church choir as well as a college one. I also serve as a secretary to the women's organization in our ward, and get to teach a few lessons from time to time. My husband and I will help plan our upcoming Christmas celebration with the young men, to highlight how Christmas is celebrated in the Pacific. I am a visiting teacher and fellowship 3 lovely ladies with a companion teacher. I regularly go to the temple in Portland and do work there for hundreds of my ancestors, and I served as a worker there for about 10 years. We read the scriptures and pray nearly every day and love the Lord.
