Hi I'm Kevin

I love everything outdoors. I'm a runner. I want to be an Army Infantry Officer. I'm a missionary in Germany. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I lived my whole life in Smalltown USA. In my opinion there was no better place to call home. It was small enough that all I had to do was run across the railroad tracks to see cows, but town still had several grocery stores and restaurants. My favorite place on Earth is South East Idaho. I love the farmland and the mountains there. There's something really beautiful about those pine covered mountains standing over golden wheat fields when white puffy clouds are drifting across the sky. My Grandfather would take me for drives up in those mountains. We'd fish for trout in the streams and hike in the hills. He would show me the places he'd shot deer and built fences. It was a grand adventure. I'm a distance runner, which is a great thing to be addicted to by the way, and I especially love trail running. I love everything about the outdoors. Anything that gets me into the mountains is a good thing, be it hiking, climbing, camping, or hunting. I love doing things that are push myself. I ran cross country in high school and loved it because of how hard it was. I once walked 50 miles in 17 hours just to know what it felt like! I'm now in the Army ROTC, working on becoming an Infantry Officer, and I volunteer for every hard thing because I always want to get tougher. I'm attending a University, studying Business Administration. I spend lots of time studying and training with the Army. My free time is spent doing the before mentioned hobbies of mine and just loving life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family but that is not why I'm still a Mormon. I have taken the time to personally read the Book of Mormon and find out for myself if it is true. As I have done so, I have felt the Spirit of God bear powerful testimony to me that it is in fact the word of God. I no longer believe the Book of Mormon is true because I know the Book of Mormon is true. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's true church upon the Earth today. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true I also know that the path to real happiness is found in the teachings of this Church. I don't know everything, nor do I pretend to, but because I know the Book of Mormon is true I am still a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Like most Mormons, I attend church every Sunday. In my congregation, my ward, I'm assigned to teach the Mission Prep class. My job is to help people prepare for full time missionary service in the church. I also sing with the Ward Choir and sometimes act as the pianist. In my personal life I try to speak with my Heavenly Father through personal prayer on a regular basis. I tell Him what I'm doing, thank Him for the help He's given me, and ask Him to continue to do so. He provides assistance in everything I do and I wouldn't be nearly as successful without Him. I study the Book of Mormon every day and this provides extra spiritual strength and guidance. There is always something new to learn in the Book of Mormon, regardless of how often you read it. I have a 25 minute drive to and from school every day, so I use that time to listen to talks given by the Apostles. By regularly listening to the advice of those men called to represent Jesus Christ, I make sure I'm doing what God needs me to. I am leaving school and military opportunities for two years to serve as a missionary in Berlin. I know that leaving for such a long period of time will present challenges upon my return, but it doesn't matter. I choose to trust that my Heavenly Father will help me to fulfill every responsibility I'm given, both as a missionary and as a student/soldier when I return.
