Hi I'm Talia Gneiting

I grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho. I love to play the piano whenever I have a spare minute. I love to have fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, I am Talia. I am 19 years old. I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be serving in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission. I love this gospel with all my heart. I love music. I play the piano and Alto Saxophone. Music is my passion. I also enjoy the outdoors. The outdoor activities that I enjoy doing include: hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Growing up, I always had the truth around me. I live in a predominantly LDS community. As I got older, I started to question EVERYTHING about this gospel. My testimony had dwindled and I wasn’t clinging to my Father in Heaven for help. When I got to be a Sophmore in High School, my oldest brother was called on a mission. I looked-up to my brother a lot. As a year went by, I started to degress in the gospel. I knew that I had 2 choices: to wollow in my own self-pity or to change where my testimony was at. I emailed my brother telling him that my testimony was gone and I didn’t know if this church was true anymore. My brother, so humbly, replied to me saying, “Talia, are you reading your scriptures? Are you saying your prayers? Are you asking the Lord if this church is TRUE?” As I read that, I just sunk. I knew that I hadn’t been doing any of that. I was waiting for an absolute miracle to happen right before my eyes. As I responded to that email, my brother also gave me some more wise council. He told me to go to the Temple and to read The Book of Mormon. I was determined to seek the answers to my questions. I did start reading The Book of Mormon, I started attending the Temple weekly, I started praying with REAL intent. I was devastated when no answer came to me. I was so upset with God for not telling me ANYTHING. I was doing ALL the right things, why couldn’t I get an answer? I knelt down and offered a prayer, being furious with God. As I was praying, I had a strong impression to grab a booklet called “For the Strength Of Youth”. As I opened up the book, I saw a picture of the Temple. The spirit over-whelmed me. I knew from that point, that this was the TRUE church. I know that God lives. I know He loves EACH and EVERY one of us. I KNOW that if we want to know if this church is true, read The Book of Mormon and pray about it. You will find your answer. You don’t have to take anybody’s word for it.

How I live my faith

I am a very active member in my community. I play the piano for our local Presbyterian Church. In my ward, I have been called to be a Primary Teacher for CTR 7. (7-year-olds turning 8) I love this calling because I teach the youth about the simple truths of the gospel. I love to feel their sweet spirit and bare witness to them of the truthfulness of this gospel.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Talia Gneiting
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is ESSENTIAL for us to return to our Father in Heaven. Our Heavenly Father knew that we would make mistakes. We are not perfect beings--we are mortal. God had that in mind when he sent us to earth. God wants ALL of his children, you and I, to return to him. God knew that wasn't possible if we were unclean. (made mistakes) God knew that we would need a way out of our sins. The ONLY way that we could be clean and return to our Father in Heaven was if someone PERFECT atoned for our sins. The only perfect person to ever walk upon the face of the earth is Jesus Christ. For him to atone for our sins, he needed to suffer for ALL of our sins in Gethsemane and be crucified on the cross. He suffered for ALL the sins of the world, felt every pain and sorrow in the world. He overcame everything. He made it possible for each and every one of us to return to our Father in Heaven. He was the ONLY way out of damnation. We can take advantage of this great gift by repenting of our sins, have faith in him, be baptized by the right authority, receive the Holy Ghost, keep the commandments and endure to the end. Through the Atonement, we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever. Show more Show less
