Hi I'm Ron

I 'm from Georgia, U.S. I worked at Fort Benning, and now am a teacher of computer and information systems courses in college.

About Me

I am a grand dad and husband of a wonderful wife for 50 years. I am currently semi-retired, but serving as a college teacher of computer and information systems. Much of my teaching experience is in programming, systems analysis and design, database administration, data structures, algorithms, and information systems. I am also involved in genealogy and love to help others find their ancestors using the computer. In terms of my education, I have an engineering degree from Georgia Tech, and MBA from Georgia State University. I recently retired after having served twenty-nine years in logistics at Fort Benning. I loved every minute of those 29 years, being of service to soldiers and their families. I also worked for seven years in banking and two years in manufacturing. My hobbies include astronomy, astro-photography, and fishing. I've been a member of the Mormon church for 30 years and prior to that I was a Baptist and still have many friends and family in the Baptist church. If you have any questions about the Mormon church or our faith, please contact me. Also, if you have any questions or would like help with any of my hobbies or areas mentioned above, don't hesitate to ask.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon about 30 years ago. I loved and still love the Baptist Church and their beliefs, but I studied the Book of Mormon, observed the Mormons I knew and how they practiced their beliefs; and over time I came to recognize and know that the Mormon Church and beliefs were what was needed by me and most importantly by my family. I came to this realization by studying the Book of Mormon and the beliefs of the Church, and praying to know "if it were true and from God". I received an answer and had my heart touched in a way that it had never been touched before. I love the Church and love having Family Home Evening meetings with my family to discuss the gospel and have fun with each other on a regular weekly basis. It was great for my six children and is now great for my 18 grand children. It has brought me a great sense of joy, that I believe would not have been possible without the Church and the gospel of Jesus Christ that we believe in.

How I live my faith

I am active in our church and currently serve as a counselor to our Bishop. In this assignment, I work with the youth and scouting groups within our local congregation. I love working with the youth and helping them organize events, activities, and share my knowledge of genealogy with them. I also help the youth by counseling with them, listening to their concerns, and helping them in any way that I can to improve their lives and face the challenges they encounter in today's society. I also make monthly visits to families in our local congregation and watch over the welfare of their family. I love serving others like this and appreciate the opportunity of helping others to improve their lives and increase their faith and study of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Ron
The atonement of Jesus Christ is essential and the only way and name by which we can be accepted by God. We are all sinners, and Jesus is the only one that lived a perfect life that enabled him to claim those that accept him and live his principles and that was able to reconcile us with God.
