Hi I'm Shelley

I grew up in Ogden, Utah and I graduated from college when I was 62. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to do scrap booking, embroidery and other handcrafts. One of my favorite things I am doing is Family History. I am a history buff, by nature, and I want to learn all I can about where I came from. I am a mother of a beautiful daughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of this Church! I am a fifth generation member with some of my ancestors coming from South Africa and from Norway, after having joined the Church in their native lands. They came across the oceans and came to Utah, as part of the great Mormon Migration in the 1850's and 60's. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York! The Gospel was lost for centuries and needed to be restored. I love to feel the Holy Ghost when I need comforting. When my late husband passed away, almost 20 years ago, I felt the presence of the Holy Ghost with me, from the moment my husband died to the time I laid him to rest. That was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life! Families can be together always, for the eternities, if I live the Gospel. I was married in the Salt Lake Temple, 38 years ago and lost my companion when he and I were only 47 years of age! Without the blessing of a Temple marriage, we would not be together again. This brings me such great hope and consolation knowing my Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered through His Atonement in order to bring about Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness! I know the Book of Mormon is true! I have read it many times and I know that if I live the teachings contained therein, along with keeping all the commandments, then I am truly happy! Even though I may suffer from trials or tribulations. This earth life is a testing ground to see if I will do everything Heavenly Father and His precious Son have asked of me.

How I live my faith

I am in charge of the Singles in my Ward who are over the age of 46. Also I visit four different ladies every month as a visiting teacher. I served a Church Service Mission two years ago with the Publishing Department of the Church. Also I am a member of the International Daughters of Utah Pioneers. I currently serve as the Parliamentarian, where I lead the members in the Pledge of Allegiance every month to start our meeting. We learn of our pioneer ancestors and we are all patriotic women!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I do believe there are Prophets on the earth today, just like Moses. Heavenly Father needs them to guide His children, to help His children understand where we came from, why we are here on this earth, and what happens after this earth life. Without Prophets, we are lost sheep and cannot find our way back to our Heavenly home. Show more Show less
