Hi I'm Jean

I was born in Colorado. I became a school teacher in Utah. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired elementary school teacher. I like to travel, read historical fiction, try new recipes, exercise, hike, and take morning walks. I also like to put jigsaw puzzles together. My family is important to me and I try to visit with my extended family often either through email. phone or personal visits.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because many years ago my ancestors were converted to the Mormon faith. They were pioneers who traveled to Utah in wagons and on foot. I was taught from my youth the principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I was taught that I needed to pray to God and find out if what I had been taught was true. As a teenager I did pray specifically to know two if important truths that I had been taught were true. the first was is Joseph Smith a latter day prophet and did he see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and under their direction restore the Church of Jesus Christ. When I asked God about this specific truth I was filled with a peaceful calm assuring feeling that YES, Joseph Smith was a prophet and he did restore the church of Jesus Christ in the latter days. The second question I had was is the Book of Mormon true. First I rad the entire book and the I prayed with real intent to know that it was the word of God just as the Bible is the word of God. Again I was filled with a peaceful assurance that it is a true book that contains the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that it was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. After I knew that these two important teachings were true I decide that I must continue to follow all the commandments of God and to serve Him and to serve my fellowman, so that when I die i will be able to live in the presence of God and Jesus Christ again.

How I live my faith

I have had opportunity to serve in my church area in many ways. I have worked with the children 3-12 years old. I have also worked with the young women from 12-18 years old. I have even taught adult classes. I am currently working with the women in my area. I help to plan classes that will help them be better mothers, sisters and homemakers. I enjoy visiting with my neighbors and trying to give them encouragement and share their burdens and happiness too.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jean
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was a necessary part of God's plan for each of us. God know that we would make mistakes and that we would need a way to repent for those mistakes. The Atonement of Jesus Christ makes that possible. God and Jesus Christ love us and and kind and merciful. The Atonement of Jesus Christ not only saves us from paying for our sins, but also is the gift of the resurrection for all mankind. Because Christ was willing to sacrifice for us, if we follow the commandments of God and repent we have the opportunity to live with God and Jesus Christ after we die. I am grateful for such a kind and loving Father that would give us a way to live with him again. Show more Show less
