Hi I'm Barbara Willis Corry

I grew up in Utah. I am married with 6 children and 24 grandchildren. I love to sew and quilt. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Lately my passion as been quilting. I love making charity quilts. When I travel I crochet hats which I donate. I love being with my family and feel no greater peace when watching our children, spouses, and grandchildren interact. Sometimes I grow amazing broccoli but mostly our garden produces sufficient tomatoes, corn, beans and squash to eat with some to bottle and freeze. I love our mountains, traveling, reading. I am happily married for nearly 50 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. I have been blessed to have a strong history of involvement in the church, my maternal ancestors were converted in the early days of the church, my paternal great grandparents were separately converted in England and emigrated to America. I married a wonderful man whose ancestors also joined the church in its early days. We were married for time and eternity in an LDS temple and I have felt the blessings of that eternal union for nearly 50 years. We have 6 children, we struggled raising them, getting through college, the daily wear and tear of life but knowing that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know me, know my personality, my weaknesses, my strengths, are watching, loving, encouraging and strengthing me have enabled me to meet the problems, frustrations and disappointments with hope and joy. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that I will live again with my Father in Heaven and that I am a loved daughter of my Heavenly Father. My life experiences have confirmed this testimony again and again. I am grateful for this surety, it is a rock in my life.

How I live my faith

For a number of years I served as an elected member of our local school board. I was then elected and served 4 years on our state board of education. I have been enjoying my release from public service very much, loving being able to be a private citizen and involving myself in local concerns. I served on the library board and on various committees promoting our community. I love working with young people, my husband has coached cross country and track at our local high school for many years and I have the unofficial title of Mrs Coach. We remain in touch with many of our former runners and are excited to watch their life's journeys. I have worked with the youngest to the oldest people in our church community. For several years I tended the 18 mo to 3 year old while their parents attended their church meetings, I have lead singing and taught classes in our 3 to 12 year old church groups. I served as counselor and advisor to the 12-18 year old church groups and as I also love the outdoors, served as camp director for the annual camp week for girls youth group. I have been active in Scouting, in the Cubs and Boy Scouts. I have been in the leadership of our women's church group and have developed a great love for the women I serve. It is a great privilege for me to have the responsibility to visit with several choice women each month in their homes. As I share my testimony with them, I am strengthen and blessed.
