Hi I'm Amanda

I have lived in Utah my whole life. I am just about to leave for an LDS mission, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Amanda! Right now I am preparing to serve an LDS mission and I will attend college once I return. I love to play soccer, read books, take pictures (of other things and people), and attend the occasional movie. I come from a mixed family with 13 children which means life can be pretty hectic, but I don't think I'd have it any other way. I look forward to traveling once I return from my mission and my biggest hope is to attend at least one World Cup game.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of LDS faith. I was raised attending church and was baptized at the age of eight. However, when my parents divorced I really struggled with attending church and having faith in what was being taught. The reason I am still here as a member of the LDS church is because of the Book of Mormon and the faith, peace, and promises it showed to me. I was in a time where I had never felt more alone. I felt as if I had no one to turn to or talk to. I decided that it was time for me to the read the Book of Mormon and know for myself whether it was true or not. I was reading in the book of Mosiah in the Book of Mormon and it read, "and I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions." As I read this, I had never felt so much peace, comfort, and love. This gave me the faith to begin attending church again. I am a Mormon because this faith has so much to offer you-- only if you are willing to reach out to know that it is true. I bear my testimony that the Book of Mormon is true. It has helped me through the deepest and darkest moments of my life. It is truly a light within the darkness. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I try to be as involved as I can be! The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has so many opportunities for the youth to be involved within the faith. I was able to serve as a Youth Committee member-- this included going to monthly meetings to discuss the progress of the youth and how we could better reach out to bring them to activities that we had planned. I was also able to serve among my peers at school through seminary. This meant that I was among 14 other students that were called to help serve the students that we went to school with. We planned socials and activities to help bring people together. I attend church weekly because it helps bring me peace and provides a safe-haven for me.
