Hi I'm Steve

I'm from a family of nine children. Not everyone in the family is a member of the LDS church, but yes, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I retired from work a little early to help care for my mother who suffered from the effects of old age. She lived with my wife and I for over three years and returned to her heavenly home at the age of 94. My wife is my best friend and when we married, two families became one family with nine children born within a ten-year period. Although our children were from very different backgrounds, they somehow managed to actually like each other. Now as “empty-nesters”, we get to do the things we dreamed of doing when we had more time. I like to read and fantasize of what life might exist in the broad expanse of heaven. I like to listen to classical music as well as music from the 50’s and early 60’s. I learned to play a little piano when I was young. And I must say that the best tasting tomato is the tomato you grow in your own backyard.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up in the 1960’s, there were those who claimed there is no god, no “heaven” and there is nothing after this life on earth. But I looked around me at the beauty of this earth and the broad expanse and beauty of space, the wonder of life itself, the uniqueness of men and women, their individuality and relationships, and their capacity to love, and I concluded, as millions of other people who have lived upon this earth, that there must be more than such a simple dismissal of deity. I believe that God does exist, that he loves us individually, and that he wants us to learn and progress to become as he is. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches us of our relationship with God, who is our Heavenly Father, and his desire to help us to grow and progress in this mortal life, and his desire for us to receive a fullness of his blessings and to return once again to live with our family and friends in his presence. It also teaches us of the unique and central role Jesus Christ plays in Heavenly Father’s plan in overcoming physical death, providing for the resurrection of all those who have lived and died on this earth, and in overcoming a spiritual death (not living in God's presence) by teaching us how we should live on this earth, and providing the means by which we may be forgiven of our mistakes and weaknesses through the mercy, love and atonement of Jesus Christ. We can all know this through the teachings of his living prophets and through the witness of his Holy Spirit which testifies to our soul the truth of all things. This is my faith and belief. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to bring peace, joy and happiness to our lives. So now I try to smile just a little more with the hope it will bring a smile to someone else. We are all children of God so I strive to love and serve everyone I meet as God loves them.
