Hi I'm Celina

I grew up in Tennessee. I love soccer and the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young single adult who works full-time and goes to school full time. I am finishing up my undergraduate degree in anthropology from BYU. I did my thesis research on domestic abuse in Namibia. I work with computers by day and do personal training for high school girls soccer in the evenings. I am in the military and currently serve in the reserves. I love my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church in a great family that has always been strong in the church. But after some health challenges that almost took my life, I started to question if God was really there. I decided that instead of waiting upon the Lord, I would go to where there were more people, more noise, more chaos. With so much going on, I thought it would take away the loneliness and confusion. It didn't. Then the Bishop of my ward came after me like a shepherd looking for his lost sheep. He loved me even though I wasn't doing all the right things or having the right attitude. He taught me that the Lord loved me unconditionally and though I felt alone, the Savior had never left me and that He knew the struggles I was experiencing. He promised me that the Savior and my Heavenly Father would never quit on me and taught me how to truly apply the atonement in my life to be healed. I know my Savior lives and that He loves me, heals me, and redeems me, that is why I am a Christian. I know that the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ and that it brings clarity to the gospel of Jesus Christ that exists in the Bible. I know that there God has not abandoned us and that He has a chosen and ordained prophet on the Earth now just as He has in every dispensation of time. I know that Joseph Smith was one of those prophets and that through him, God restored the truths of the gospel that were lost. I know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and created a plan so that through the Savior, we could return to live with Him and experience the purest form of Joy, both in this world and in the world to come. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving. That's what its all about anyway, right? At church I help with our membership committee. We try to see who is missing and reach out to them to let them know they are loved and missed. I also try to make time each week for the active members in my ward to show them how much I appreciate them as friends. Sometimes that means dropping off cookies, sometimes its a relaxing movie night, and sometimes it is sending an uplifting quote or message to let them know the Lord is mindful of them. I always keep a copy of the Book of Mormon in my backpack. I read it on my lunch break sometimes. I love to share positive messages I receive from it with others. Most of the time though, I read it to find answers to my questions or to find comfort and peace on a hard day. Having the word of God nearby is like having a friend that is always available to talk, who gives spiritual hugs, and helps you know what to do next!
