Hi I'm Milt Shipp

I'm lifelong member of the LDS Church. My religion is my life -- I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Husband to a great wife, Dad to 7 children & a Grandpa to 19 grandchildren. We have chaotic reunions! Travel is a huge part of our life. We usually travel as a Family and have visited over 50 countries. We love to serve the people wherever we go, as that is the best way to get to really experience the cultures where we visit. There are good people all over the world! The outdoors is another big emphasis. I love to ski, cycle, boat, scuba dive, golf, fish, hike, etc. We can do all of these activities within 1 hour from home. I'm a business man and am the founder / partner in 2 related real estate companies. We've made and lost lots of money, but the main thing is that we have provided jobs and services for many excellent people. That's very satisfying. Life seems short, so I've come to believe that we should all be helping one another. We all have challenges, so opportunities abound. This is the focus of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Through all my years of world travel and service, I've never found a religion that teaches such profound, yet practical beliefs, as does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It answers the 3 questions that every thinking person on this earth wants to know: 1) Where did I come from? 2) Why am I here? 3) Where am I going when I die? Knowing these answers (and many others) gives deep meaning to the purpose of my life. It makes me feel whole as a person and grateful to my Heavenly Father for this understanding. It motivates me to reach out to those around me -- who are all my Brothers and Sisters -- and try to help them in their own needs. We are all on a journey together and the best way to improve our lives while experiencing real fulfillment is by following the Savior Jesus Christ. He showed us the way to live and to serve others. That is the key: love. Jesus Christ has been my exemplar in every aspect of my life. The times I've successfully followed His teachings and example are the times I've also succeeded. But, to the contrary, the times I've chosen a different path, apart from the Savior, are the times I've struggled. I love to ponder about His principles that I choose to implement in my life, for one of the glorious truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that we can determine what choices we will make and change our direction at any given time. And this leads me to pray constantly to our Father in Heaven for guidance and the strength to continue to follow my Savior's example. What a blessing to have standards and eternal truth. I am so blessed to know the source of goodness and love. I want to pass this on to others so they too can have these exquisite feelings. That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I serve on an international advisory board that focuses on encouraging world wide religious freedom. It is rewarding to see the extremely diversified people from around the globe who also believe that this universal freedom is essential to our lives. Another group to which I devote much time and energy is devoted to providing clean water to communities in third-world countries. Many lives have literally been saved and enhanced through this process. The poverty is horrific but can become livable when good water is introduced.
