Hi I'm Pat Packer

I'm an Idaho wife, mother and grandmother...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a middle child of three daughters. I love to read mystery novels, do watercolor art, and learn about my family's history. I really enjoy traveling to new places and creating clothing. I have been blessed with a husband who has a fun sense of humor and a caring nature. Other people who light up my life are my eight children and 30 grandchildren. My husband is a counselor in the Mormon temple in our city and I am an assistant to the Matron. This experience has enriched our lives and has helped us realize how good people really are. Music plays an important part in my life, too. I play the accordian and the piano for fun. I enjoy all genres of music, especially soft, soothing music. Of course, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is right up there on my favorites list. Like everyone, we have had our challenges but with the help of prayer and the love of the Lord, we have been guided and our burdens have been lifted.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up my parents taught me about Jesus Christ in our home. Later, in my teenage years, I studied the Book of Mormon and learned for myself that it is an inspired book. The principles taught in that sacred book helped me realize that through its principles, I can live a full life and know how to guide my family in the same way. The Mormon church is led by a prophet and twelve apostles just like in Jesus' day. There is peace in its teachings and that is like a rock to hold onto in this shifting world.

How I live my faith

In my church, I have taught the young women by learning with them in a Sunday setting, gone to camp with them in the summer and participated with them in young men/young women activities each week. I also go visiting to a few other women in our church each month to make sure they are ok and to leave a spiritual message with them.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Pat Packer
One way to come to know our Father in Heaven is to study the scriptures with a sincere heart (2 Timothy 3:14-17). Praying to Him privately will give you answers you are looking for (James 1:5). One of the ways that have helped me to know Him is to be obedient to the things taught about Him in the scriptures. This obedience to His ways will lead to knowledge (Book of Mormon, Alma 32:27-35). What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Pat Packer
A testimony is a spiritual witness given to an individual by the Holy Ghost. The foundation of a Mormon’s testimony is the knowledge that Heavenly Father lives and loves us; that Jesus Christ lives, that He is the Son of God, and that He carried out the infinite Atonement; that Joseph Smith is a prophet, which God called to restore Jesus Christ’s church to the earth; that we are led today by a living prophet; and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior’s Church restored on the earth today.
