Hi I'm Shila

I'm a fifth-generation Kansan. I'm a retired teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since I retired from teaching, I became a personal historian. I love helping people preserve their life story and publish it in hardback books to give to their family members. I enjoy hearing stories about how life used to be and about lessons learned. I also like to read and am a Jane Austen fan. I served a mission in England and saw Groombridge Place where Pride and Prejudice starring Kiera Knightley was filmed. I have a big yard and enjoy flower gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the church when I was 25 years old. At that time I had been searching for the truth for several years. I had a basic understanding of who Jesus Christ was but I didn't understand who God was. I was also looking for a church that had standards that didn't change with popular culture. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom on earth and teaches true principles. I am eternally grateful for my testimony.

How I live my faith

I've served in different capacities in my church. Right now I teach young children every Sunday. I am also a Visiting Teacher and enjoy going to female members' homes each month to get to know them better and find out their needs.
