Hi I'm Dorothy

As a mother of eight children (five girls and three boys) and 31 grand-kids, I love serving others which helps to keep me busy.

About Me

I loved my life on the farm. When I was eighteen, I moved to Calgary to take the training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Working in the hospitals was one of my happiest moments of my life because I loved taking care of the patients and I met my husband. He soon left on a mission for the church to Texas. I then went to Edmonton to work in the hospital there, and upon his return from his mission we were soon married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple, this was a beautiful day. We both worked hard to save up enough funds to leave Canada, and we were off to BYU, Provo, for him to attend university. By this time, I was expecting our first child, and this was the high light of my life because I always wanted to be a mother. We eventually had eight beautiful children along with that happiness came the excitement of thirty-one grandchildren. I love and enjoy being a wife and mother, and being home with the children, that provided high motivation for me to cook, sew, and do some canning and to make sure we had a reasonable food supply. I enjoy gardening being outdoors. My life centered on my family and church service. I love to assist other people, taking food to the sick, befriending those who need loving—it is in my nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to wonderful parents who taught me about Jesus Christ, took me to church. I was always happy to go to church it makes my heart feel good. When I was twelve my father died which was very heartbreaking. Several things changed for my family; we had numerous hardships; however, with all that I still love the church. One of my strongest desires was to have my dad pleased with me and what I accomplished. Unfortunately, my sibling didn’t see the importance of the church because of some choices they made, and their testimonies became weak, but I love the gospel. I made a promise that I would always stay true to my Heavenly Father. I am enjoying servicing him which gives me great joy. I love the truth which lets me know that I can be with my family eternally. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The way I live my life is by helping others. I enjoy seeing happiness and satisfaction in people eyes. It is one reason why I enjoyed nursing so much, by performing various tasks to meet not only needs but also wants and wishes. I like to keep busy. I enjoy reading about other people lives. I choose to research about things that would make our family healthy, such as using various herbs for sickness. I enjoyed camping and being outdoors. I like driving so later in my life when my children were not at home I worked as a medical driver taking patients to their appointment which allowed me back into the medical field again helping others again, which I had missed.
