Hi I'm Hayden McDow

I was born and raised in Southern California. I will be serving as a full-time missionary in the Nampa Idaho Mission.

About Me

I have a love for knowledge, both of the gospel and the world around me. I studied Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering prior to leaving for my mission, and am fascinated with anything and everything that flies or is in space. I also have a love for sports and camping, playing football in high school, basketball in my free time, camping and hiking whenever I have the chance, and keeping well versed in my outdoor skills. I've tried to keep the gospel at the center of my life, even while attending school and especially as I serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for many reasons, but the most important has been the power that comes from the restored gospel, through modern day revelation and through following the teachings of this gospel. My father has been an active member of the Church for a majority of my life, and my mother joined the church after meeting my dad. My family as a whole became inactive when I was young, but both my siblings and myself sought a greater understanding and foundation in the principles of Jesus Christ after returning to Church a few times. After months of study, pondering, and prayer, as well as attending church and taking lessons from the missionaries, I decided that I wanted to be a member of this church and partake of the blessings that this gospel provides. Thirteen at the time, I was still young in my understanding and testimony of the restored gospel. Nonetheless, vigilant effort on my part and the part of my parents kept me active in the church throughout High School and into college, where my testimony would grow the most being away from home. Today, after many years of being a member of the church and holding greater callings and responsibilities, I continue to find truth and power. I have an unshakable testimony of modern day prophets and apostles who lead this church, as well as the power of the restored priesthood that I hold as a young man and member of this church. I know that following the teachings of this gospel and of Christ have helped me to better find happiness and overcome great challenges. I also know that as I have been given much, I too must give, which has been my primary motivation for serving as a missionary of this church.

How I live my faith

As a youth, I was heavily involved in community service and volunteering through the Boy Scouts of America. These same values helped me while attending school and training in the United States Air Force, where high moral standards, discipline, and helping others are the core of both being a leader and being successful in studies. I have more recently served as an instructor in both young adult men's classes at church (elder's quorum), and for youth in my church (Sunday School). While serving in that capacity, I acted as the facilitator of discussion and instructing others about gospel topics that where provided for me to share and expound upon. I am currently preparing to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
