Hi I'm Christopher Daines

I grew up in Phoenix Arizona. I participated in Academic Decathalon and was a Boy Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to read lots of books, the list of books I have which I want to read grows larger every day. Other hobbies of mine include shooting, swimming, archery, hiking, and relaxing to the sound of rain. I attended Arizona State University as a freshman whilst majoring in Chemical Engineering for a year. I am currently taking a hiatus from School to serve my mission. In high school I participated in Academic Decathlon which is a competition based around ten different subjects including speeches, math, literature, and science. I also was a boy scout and had been since I turned twelve. I participated in some archery competitions on an informal basis and practiced with many national level youths. I have not done so in a few years however.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, and that is the majority of why I stay a member. I did not know much of anything else for much of my life. However I have chosen to stay with the church as I have received a testimony of the truth of many of the teachings of the church. I saw many of my friends using drugs, alcohol, and other substances and it was ruining their lives. I had never partaken nor wanted to and I noticed that by following the teachings of the Lord I was able to be protected from the temptation to do those things like some of my friends wanted me to.

How I live my faith

I am the ward family history consultant and as such advise and teach members of my ward to use the various resources available to them to research their family history. I particularly enjoy teaching the youth as the adults are more likely to be set in their ways.
