Hi I'm Will

I grew up in Southern California. I'm a soon to be missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born to a pretty complicated family that I love dearly. It's a mixed family which always causes its share of problems but I can't imagine it any other way! I love to travel and have been blessed with the chance to do a lot of it. I'm the youngest of 7 (9 including step siblings) which sounds like a lot but I am the only one at home so it's not too crazy. I graduated high school at the age of 16 and did a semester of college immediately thereafter. I had (strong emphasis on had) an interest in law and was lucky enough to get a job at a firm allowing me to save up for my mission! I am now 18 years old and at the time of writing this only a week away from going on my mission!

Why I am a Mormon

Being born into the church it's hard to pick a single moment where I feel like I was converted. However, even though I have been in the church since I was born and I have always had a knowledge of its truth I wouldn't say I have always had a testimony. I hear stories all the time of when I was a kid and how much of a "spiritual giant" I was, but at some point along the road my testimony faded. I still went to church and attended my activities and I even enjoyed being there but I wasn't really going for me anymore, I was going more for everyone else out of pressure to still be that "spiritual giant" they all knew me as. I feel like I now know where I went wrong and why my testimony began to fade. It was because I wasn't doing those simple tasks we all know we should be doing but sometimes we just don't. I slowed down on my scripture study, I started skipping prayers, I even stopped paying as much attention in class until one day it hit me. I was tired of it, I was tired of not having the spirit in my life, of not having the joy that comes with being a devout member of this church. It was a struggle getting back on track but I just had to jump back into it and once I did my testimony slowly but surely began to grow again. My testimony still needs work and I feel as though there is still a lot that I don't know but I would like to focus on what I do know. I know that this church is the one true church. I know that the Book of Mormon was given to us by God and translated by one of His prophets. I know that this gospel is one of pure happiness and joy and, finally, I know that our Savior Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of this church and that all of its teachings testify of His love for us. These things I know with a surety and I hope that, if you haven't already, you too will come to a knowledge of this all. Amen.

How I live my faith

I try to be active in my church by helping wherever I can and participating in the different activities. A friend and I co run a DJ/Lighting company and so we have had a lot of fun doing the lighting and sound for a handful of different youth conferences and a majority of the Saturday night dances in our area. It's awesome to see all of the different ways that people can help in the church by using their special talents and skill sets.
