Hi I'm Shelby Wonnacott

I have grown up all over Idaho. I am a music enuthist. I am a big sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am nineteen years old and I love spending time with my close and extended family. I am a substitute teacher at the local Elementary school and I spend my spare time reading, singing, trying to play the guitar, cleaning, or with my two younger brothers. I have one older brother and three younger. he oldest of the three is my best friend. I currently feel like my life is in a unique place. I am about to serve a mission and am spending time to get ready for it but not much else. All of my friends have gone to college and I have chosen a different path. I have found that I am happiest when I am busy. I spend my days off singing while cleaning, going for walks or visiting people in my ward or town. I love spending quality time with people and learning from them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because living it everyday brings me happiness that I have never found anywhere else. This church helps me find peace in an changing and fast moving world. I have learned for myself that I have a Father in heaven who knows me and loves me. I want to spend everyday trying to be close to him. I need his influence in my life and the Saviors atoning sacrifice is the greatest tool to help me be close to him. There is no much that I don't know and so many things that scare me, but with the Saviors hand I feel comforted and steady. I know that like the times of old we have a prophet that leads and guides our church. The world may be changing but The Lord is not. I can trust and rely upon him. I love him and he loves me.

How I live my faith

In my church I am called a a Sunday school teacher. I spend one hour every Sunday with some of the children in our church. I am usually prepare the lesson previous to the class but I have learned that no matter how much I prepare the lesson it never goes as planned. Children are very inquisitive and I love answering question for them and also love learning from them. About every three mouths my church puts on a community activity. We have a large rang of different communal activities like a chili cook off, a Halloween truck or treat with a friendly decoration competition, or a walk through nativity. I love spending time with my church family on matter what we are doing. We serve together, play together, cry together, and worship together. We live through the best and worst of times together. The community that I live in is very religious. The town may have about 31000 people but we still have around 15 different churches. I love watching as all the different faiths come together to help our small community in times of need. About two years ago a nearby town was trapped in a forest fire. Many good people lost their homes along with their possessions. Our church community along with out town got supplies, bedding, clothing and many things to help out this town in need together. Regardless of religion I try to live my life by everyday sharing the light and love of Christ. The savior is not physically with us everyday so it is everyone responsibly to try and live like he did. I am still learning how to do that but everyday I hope to get a little bit better.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?
