Hi I'm Camille

I live in Utah. I taught dancing for 20 years. I am a mother of 8 children and a grandmother of 25. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah. My father was a police officer and my mother worked fulltime as well. I started dancing when I was 10 years old. I also participated in 4-H for 7 years. I got married when I was 17 and we were later sealed in the temple. I taught dancing for about 20 years. After my children were all in school I worked for the school district in the school lunch program. When our family was young our family vacations were usually camping. I enjoy sewing, reading, and spending time with our family. I enjoy traveling but I am always happy when I return home.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life and have never really questioned it. But I got to a point when I was a young mother that I really wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I realized that if I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon that it only makes sense that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. So I began a serious study of the Book of Mormon. I said a prayer each time I picked it up to read and asked for a confirmation that it was true. I read and prayed for several weeks and enjoyed it so much. But one night as I was reading I received a strong confirmation that it was true. I have never forgotten the warm wonderful feeling that came over me. I have tried to share that with my family and friends and other members. I love the messages that our leaders give to us. Their messages help strengthen me and help me through the challenges that I have. I love that we are able to learn and to grow as we accept callings. My testimony has been strengthened as I have served in the temple and on missions. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. He loves each one of us and helps us in ways that we don't always understand. I love that my husband has the Priesthood and can bless our family through his service. I have been healed through priesthood blessings. The gospel gives me hope that one day I can return to live with my Heavenly Father and be with my family eternally. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have been very active in our church participating in many different activities. I have been a teacher, a chorister, a camp leader, a missionary, a cub-scout leader, and have been in leadership positions in our church. One of the callings I have most enjoyed is being a visiting teacher. I enjoy visiting with different sisters in our ward and getting to know them. I am happy when good things happen to them and sad when they are hurting. I have taken in meals when they are sick and helped them when needed. I love my neighbors and are willing to help them when they need it. I have 8 children and 25 grandchildren and have spent many hours tending grandchildren and participating in their special activities. I have been a 4-H leader and have participated in community clean-up projects and political party activities.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I read the scriptures to receive peace and guidance in my life. I have gained more self-esteem by reading the scriptures than in any other thing I have done. Many times I receive answers to my prayers while reading the scriptures. Show more Show less
