Hi I'm Taka

I'm a Japanese, tennis playing, tech loving, pingpong teaching, American who is now currently serving a mission

About Me

I'm a high school graduate, and a technical college graduate, as a young kid my family was very much artfully inclined, that it be playing instruments, singing in choirs, to painting, drawing, and dancing. I loved sports for as long as I remember (never cared about being the best) I've played almost all the sports a school would offer but I ended my senior year with ping pong and a splurge (if you can call it that) of tennis. Was always intreagued about technology since I aspired to be like my father when I was younger. And now currently thinking about what I'm going to do for my future.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church but as most I did not have any real belief in it. Was it true or was it not? Is there a God or is there not? You would think I would have figured this out by teachings I've been taught since I was a child. But the thing is just as much as I can say I love spicy food and you should too or that one sport is more enjoyable than another. That by itself most people would not agree. Just like you will find in the Bible or the Book of Mormon, you learn that many of the people have experienced something that lead them to believe in God and Jesus Christ. In that point of my life I did not have any of these experiences nor did I want to at the time. As I got into Jr high or middle school I considered myself more agnostic than I was Christian believed in a higher power but wasn't sure if that higher power was really this God. During this time I was going through hard times with thoughts, depression, and life. To the point that I actually tried to take my life and I failed. So with cowardice that entered my heart and mind I went home. Realizing that I got to such a low point in my life to even attempt suicide. I was given remembrance of how happy I was when I was 5 or 6 and went back to my surroundings and my child like faith in my parents that i had and what was taught. Realizing there was something there in that church that brought me this happiness I went back to church following that episode and focused on how I felt and what was being taught. I can't remember what was taught but I can remember this strong feeling of love from the members and peace in my heart something I wanted but did not know how to get it prior. This is one of many experiences I have had leading up to my belief and testimony that I have today. And if you want to know more on how you can gain your own experiences have an open heart and desire and contact the missionaries and I know they can help you out. God loves all of us, we are his children, & Jesus Christ is our savior.

How I live my faith

I was an Assistant, councilor, and Secretary to church leaders for the young men in three different wards(or groups/congregations) at different times, had opportunities to teach friends about our beliefs and why they matter. And now am currently serving a mission in Japan.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Why would God just decide to pull his power from us, and never plan to bring it back? Why would a singular book "The Bible" be enough guide his people? Same reason why Moses guided his people out away from Egypt, same reason why Jesus had to cleanse the temple not just once but twice in his life time, same with why Lot was told to flee Sodom and Gomorrah with his family.
