Hi I'm Garrett

Born and raised in Utah. Storyteller. Traveled the world and hope to continue to do so.

About Me

I love to be involved in writing. I always love reading stories so I decided to write a few of my own. I enjoy playing the guitar. As of right now I have been playing for over 8 years now. On top of that I love to ski. No matter where I am, if there's snow on the ground, chances are you'll find me on the slopes.

Why I am a Mormon

You know, the phrase "Why I am a Mormon" is very interesting. For those reading this I assume you're Mormon yourselves, but it's always important to think about why I call myself a Mormon. Growing up, everyone around me was Mormon, which is fine enough on its own. However, there were quite a few of my peers who claimed the LDS church as their faith, but never lived the teachings provided. That was very difficult for me, and I went through a phase of wondering who I was and if the church I was in was even right. I then started reading the New Testament and Book of Mormon together. From that, I realized that the basis of this church is to love God's children. Certainly there are other principles that are just as important, but God specifically lined out for us to help his children. The one person I respect in my life that did this perfectly was Jesus Christ. Throughout his entire life on this Earth, Jesus did nothing but teach and serve, and encouraged others to do the same. Now, if a church encourages us to go out and to make people feel better or be better, then that is enough for me to want to call myself a Mormon. I hope to shape my life to help better those around me just the way Jesus Christ did and I am glad to take two years out of my life to do just that.

How I live my faith

I attend church weekly and have spent a lot of my time in different callings around the church. I love working with the youth, I get along with them better than I get along with people my age. Is that a good thing? Possibly. In my previous wards I have organized numerous events as I spent my time up at Brigham Young University Idaho and it was rather enjoyable for me.
