Hi I'm Emily Colton

I'm from sunny LA. I've been called to labor as a full-time missionary in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a film student at BYU-Idaho, where I'm also a member of a sketch comedy group called the Humor Code (think of it as Saturday Night Live, if it was run by Mormons....Latter Day Night Live?) I come from a large family of 8, and we're currently scattered all over the globe! I love to draw and create art, but my true passion is filmmaking.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, but I believe there was still a conversion process for me. Being surrounded by strong, faithful examples all my life was truly a blessing that I'm eternally grateful for, but in the end I had to come to know the truth for myself through careful study and prayer. I think my first true testimony came after reading the first book in "The Work and the Glory", a series that outlines the Prophet Joseph Smith's life. I knew that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of the Lord, and from there, my testimony was continually built upon through spiritually enriching experiences. Gaining a testimony was not easy- sometimes I felt like it was two steps forward and one step back- and it took a really long time, but through diligence and effort I was able to come to my own conclusion of the truth of the gospel. I know we have a loving Savior and Heavenly Father who want the best for us. This is their true gospel on the earth.

How I live my faith

I've been called to serve as a missionary in the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission! I'm so excited to both teach and learn more about the gospel. I've served as a teacher in my Young Single Adult Wards at college, and I loved having the opportunity to share my testimony with others, and to hear theirs in return. Now, as a missionary, I have the incredible opportunity to share the light and joy of Christ's restored gospel with others on a daily basis. I'm grateful for and so humbled by all the blessings my Heavenly Father has bestowed upon me, and I hope to bring others to that same joy and knowledge.
