Hi I'm Kate Amundsen

I am a BYU student. I speak Cebuano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of eight and I have six older brothers, a sister who passed away when I was young, four sister-in-laws, and a boat-load of nieces and nephews. I was raised 11 years in Mesa, Arizona but I really grew up in Texas from 12 to 17. I am a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah studying Pre-doctorate Biology. I doubt that that will stick but for now, I will enjoy studying God's genius engineering. I have deferred my enrollment so that I can serve a full-time mission. I have been called to serve in The Philippines, Tacloban Mission speaking Cebuano.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that this must be the right church. It must. I have studied the teachings, I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I have listened with real intent to the prophet today to know. What have I learned? I learned that the principles here are flawless. I know that saying anything is flawless is lie because nothing on Earth is flawless. That's the thing. This gospel is celestial. People aren't perfect. Policies and practices are, more or less, temporary (for our time by modern day revelation). But the doctrines taught in the Book of Mormon, with the correct doctrines of the Bible, are eternal. And if this is the church that has the restored power and knowledge, then it is the church of God yesterday, today, and forever.

How I live my faith

Wow. Living the gospel through my faith is quite a topic. I really love this gospel and the lifestyle that it provokes. I do my best to participate and support the people is my YSA ward. YSA stands for Young Single Adult where non-married adults between 18-30 can worship together and have each other for support and friendship. I really enjoy them and our activities. As far as my role in the church let's see... my last assignment was just completed. I organized and conducted a choir to perform at Elder Bednar's worldwide broadcast. It was basically a conference where God's Apostle spoke to those in my age group. Check it out: https://www.lds.org/broadcasts/watch/worldwide-devotional-sep/2017/09?lang=eng I was so great to hear his words and so so great to use my musical talents to praise the Lord. I really enjoyed that last assignment. Now, I am off to a new adventure. I will dedicate 18 months of my time, on my own money, to preach the gospel to the people of the Philippines.
