Hi I'm Monica

I was born in India, grew up in New York, and live in Utah. I love my family, nature, music and the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in India and came to the US when I was 6 years old. I have two younger sisters and a pup named Johnny. We lived in New York all my childhood and teenage years until I went away to college in Brigham Young University, Provo Utah. My younger sister followed me and then my father who decided the house was very incomplete without this two daughters, moved everyone else out here including his IT business. Now I call the beautiful and "very different from NY" Utah our hometown. I graduate in a semester with an Exercise Science Degree and plan on doing my masters soon. I currently work in Nu Skin as a product specialist. But more importantly, I love my family, I love that my Father chose the gospel 24 years ago and I love what we believe in. I love nature, music, playing games with my family and friends, playing with our dog, reading old conference talks, and helping my mother cook some Indian food.

Why I am a Mormon

My father's brother in law was the first Indian missionary to serve in India. And when my father's older sister sent missionaries over to my father, it didn't take him long to genuinely believe that what he was hearing was true. My mother came from the strictest of a Hindu background but always told us she loved the story of the nativity and believed that it happened. My father and mother loved each other and got married (not being the norm in India at that time) my mother finally decided to get married when I was two years old. So yes I'm a convert but think of myself more as someone who grew up in the church. So why am I mormon? Because when I was younger, seeing the way my parents lived, seeing mother read her scriptures everyday, seeing my Father pray by our bed side every day was my most comforting memories. But why I stay a mormon is because when I got to college I wanted to know if this is really what I believed. And I read the Book of Mormon, I prayed and fasted and felt the spirit testifying to me that this is real. I did lean on my parents testimony before but now I knew. Those feelings I get of comfort are from God. The prayers of pain that get answered through scriptures and people are also God. The love I feel at times I feel like I'll fall apart are Him as well. And I can't deny it. This is why I am a Mormon. Because I feel my Savior's love every day, every time and everywhere.

How I live my faith

I have a testimony that Heavenly Father and my Savior love me perfectly. And I love them too, but very imperfectly. But I want to be better at loving them by following His commandments but also by loving His children which include my family, my friends, and my neighbors. I live my faith by doing the little things such as praying with sincerity and reading my scriptures with purpose. I want to be a better sister as I try to see them as God sees them; I want to be a better daughter as I try to understand my parents; and I want to be a better friend who is quick to forgive and slow to anger. I live my faith as I learn and act upon the principles of faith, charity, forgiveness, long-suffering and righteousness. As I struggle through my weaknesses, I know that as long as I stay on the Lord's territory I don't need to fear. And because of the loving atonement of Jesus Christ there is always a way back when you fall.
