Hi I'm Darby Cox

I grew up in Nevada, but I've recently moved to Utah to attend school. I will be leaving soon to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a freshman studying to be a mechanical engineer. I play the upright bass in my college orchestra and I also volunteer at the local swimming pool and teach underprivileged children how to swim. I am currently preparing to serve as a full-time missionary in the Washington DC South Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church brings me such great joy and happiness. I have complete faith in Jesus Christ and in the teachings of the Church, and through that faith I can find comfort in all my trials. I know the Book of Mormon is true. It is the true word of God and it has been given to us so we may learn more about Christ, how to be like Him, and what we can do to return to live with Him. I know that one day, we will return to live with God and with Jesus Christ. There, we will be reunited with our loved ones who have passed on before us. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, and today we have a prophet on the Earth. By listening to the words of the prophet, we can find answers to our questions, peace in our lives, and joy in our souls.

How I live my faith

As said before, I am preparing to serve a mission. This has brought happiness into my life and helped me grow closer to Heavenly Father. I have also served within my own youth groups at church. This service has taught me how to be a leader and how to sacrifice myself for others. This will come in handy on my mission.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Darby Cox
The Book of Mormon was not written by Joseph Smith, contrary to popular belief. The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets. In the beginning of the Book of Mormon, one of these prophets, Lehi is introduced. Lehi was commanded to take his family and a small group to the American continent. During this time Lehi kept a record, then passed it on to other prophets that were called by God in their American civilization. The Book of Mormon is a collection of all the different records that were kept. The Book of Mormon teaches of Jesus Christ. The prophets wrote of Heavenly Father's plan, Jesus Christ and the Atonement, teaching of Christ, and more. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, but did not write it. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Darby Cox
Family is so important to Mormons because they are central to God's plan. God gave us our families because they are who we will spend our entire lives with. We grow from them, share life experiences with them, face challenges together, and go through happiness and sorrow with them. Our family relationships are one of the few things that will continue after this life. Our families can be forever through God's plan for His children. Show more Show less
