Hi I'm Derek Stucki

I grew up in Oregon. I have 5 brothers, and no sisters. I play just about every sport you can think of. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Derek. I am the fourth born of six boys. In my free time I enjoy playing sports and musical instruments, singing at the top of my lungs, exploring the wild, hanging out friends and serving others. I graduated from high school a few years back, and attended BYU-Idaho for about a year. I am now eagerly waiting to serve a two year mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I was born into the church, meaning my family is comprised completely of members of the church. As I’ve grown older, I have come to gain my own testimony of this restored gospel so that I don’t have to rely solely upon the testimony of my parents and older siblings, but can rely upon my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in my times of need. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is the one true church on the earth today, restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Thomas S Monson is the prophet on the earth today, and the only one with the authority and keys to receive revelation for the church as a whole. I have gained a powerful testimony of the atonement as I have worked through the repentance process for past transgressions in my life, and hope to someday reach my full potential as a servant of the Lord, to be His hands in the life of others. I know that the Lord answers prayers, even if it’s not in the way that we want Him to. Sometimes He answers our prayers through others, and sometimes He answers our prayers through a small prompting we get in our own minds from the Holy Ghost. He knows us and loves us all on a personal level. He knows our struggles, our needs and righteous desires, and wants us to succeed. It is only through Him that we can be saved, and return to live with Him again someday. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping out with scouting groups when I’m needed, serving others within the ward as often as possible, and fulfilling my calling in my ward as one of the sunday school teachers. I get to teach Sunday school class about two times a month, and I usually have to prepare to teach by reading certain scriptures, praying for spiritual help and finding advice within conference talks from general conference and other devotionals given by the leaders of our church. I try to read my scriptures and say my prayers daily and hopes to be able to have the Holy Ghost as a guide in my every day life, to help me make the right decisions, and to know when I can help serve others .
