Hi I'm Jensyn

A piece in God's great puzzle. Missionary in Santa Rosa California, 2017-2019!

About Me

I have lived in Utah all my life, but growing up here does not mean that I haven't faced hard trails. I am 19 years old and preparing to leave on my mission. I attended college for a year. I was a camp counselor and First Aid at Oakcrest girls camp. I love many things including camping, music and sports. I grew up playing softball, and I have played the piano since I was five. I have struggled with depression since I was 16 from self-esteem issues, and I have a bad habit of comparing myself to others. I was born into a great home that is centered on the gospel. Only within the past year, have I really focused on finding my personal testimony.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ, and I know they love me. I am not a Mormon because I was born into a home where the Gospel is taught, but instead I have made the decision for myself to follow the true church. I have prayed many times, read the Book of Mormon, and learned for myself that this is the one and only true church on the Earth. It blesses thousands of lives and is completely beautiful. Pride is the biggest block in our lives that will keep us from learning the best knowledge. So doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith!! I love this church and it will forever bless me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being an example. I loved being a counselor at Oakcrest LDS girls camp because every day was focused on Christ and showing young women that our Heavenly Father has a hand in everything. It was very hard to teach 13 year old young women the importance and greatness of the gospel because it can seem overwhelming. If we can just focus on one thing at a time though and learn slowly it becomes easier. I have also served as ward organist for roughly two years and I loved getting to invite the spirit into church meetings. Music is a huge key in feeling the spirit because music can make you feel happy, sad, angry, energized and many more. Sometimes in our crazy busy lives we don't notice the great little things around us.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Jensyn
Men and women are both equal. Equality though does not mean that both man and women do the exact same thing. Both can be strong, and that doesn't have to be in a physical or emotional sense. The world is very opinionated with its views on women and men being equal. When simply, we should just treat each other equally as children of a kind and loving Heavenly Father. We shouldn't be so concerned about others opinions on the equality of men and women, but instead on focusing on how we feel about ourselves. We need to make sure we aren't beating ourselves up with self-esteem or tearing ourselves apart because of what the world is putting in front of our lives. Show more Show less
