Hi I'm Jennie

I grew up in a tiny town in Wisconsin. I am preparing to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE reading basically anything, from classics and fiction to self-help and biographies. Spanish is my favorite language, and I've been so blessed because I am going Spanish speaking for my mission! I also love traveling, and so far I've been to Ecuador and Spain. I completed my first year at BYU and had a total blast. I still am unsure what I want to do with my career and major, but I am thinking something along the lines of International Relations with a minor in Spanish. I received my mission call recently to the Texas McAllen mission, so I am currently trying to prepare myself spiritually and physically for that!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member my entire life, and so have my parents, and grandparents, etc. We have ancestors that were some of the first members of this church. Being a member my whole life, I never really felt like I made a choice to be a member- I just always was one. But after my brother decided to stop coming to church, and turned his back on our beliefs, I realized it is a choice. It's a choice I make every Sunday when I attend church, every morning and night when I say my prayers, and every day when I read my scriptures. I never had an aha moment where I realized that the church was true, for me it was more of a drop after drop of confirmation that has built up my testimony. Because of this, I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon, and brought back Priesthood Power to the Earth in this dispensation. I know that Heavenly Father loves all of us, and created the Plan of Salvation so we can return to Him. I know Jesus Christ suffered for my sins, and because of this I can repent, and become more Christlike. I know we have Prophets on the Earth today, who guide and teach us. I am so grateful for the Church and the blessings it brings to my life. I am a Mormon because I know these things are true, and because everything I have learned has helped me become a better, more Christlike person.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm at a weird stage in my life, where I'm living 2 hours from my family and working, but I come home on the weekends for family time and church. Because of this I don't have a current calling, but we have a small ward so when someone is sick or busy I get asked to sub for that class. My favorite is teaching in my younger sister's class- they're so goofy!
