Hi I'm Abby

I was born in Minnesota with a love for music and children. I hope to be a speech therapist one day. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 20 year old college student. I love to sing and am obsessed with musical theater. My first Broadway musical I ever saw was Hairspray. I was hooked and little 7 year old Abby was singing "I can hear the Bells" for weeks. I started my life on stage in my 5th grade production of The Little Mermaid Jr. I was casted as the role of Borgy, a farm boy in love with a girl named Georgina. I got to wear a straw hat 4 sizes to big and draw a mustache and beard on my face for a whole week. Needless to say it was the best week of my life and I knew I would be in love with the stage for a long long time. Since then I have been able to be in many other great shows such as Into the Woods, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, and Cinderella. Although I am not studying acting in college or in any glamorous theater company, musical theater is still a big part of my life and still inspires me to this day.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the gospel gives me pure joy . As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety there are not a lot of things that can do that but the gospel of Jesus Christ is one of those things. I could get my fill of happiness through watching Netflix or eating or even hanging out with my puppy but those things could never give me the true pure joy that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me everyday. I know it is true, and because I know it I live it, and because I live it I am happy.

How I live my faith

As a teenager I loved to spread my faith through song. I began to write my own songs when I was sixteen. Most of my songs were just sappy love songs or silly things I would write for my friends, but when life got hard - and it did- songwriting became an emotional outlet for me. It wasn't until much later in my process of songwriting that a realized how I could share my talent to help build the Lord's kingdom. I started by writing a song about Christmas called "On this December Day". I remember making a video for it and posting it on my facebook page. Although I didn't get 1 million views or glamorous record deals. it made me feel good that I might have brightened someones day by sharing Christ's love with them. (Totally joking about the 1 million views by the way. I'm pretty sure I would faint if I ever got that much attention).
