Hi I'm Sam

I am from Tucson, Arizona. I am going to serve a mission in Hanoi Vietnam. Afterwards I am going to study chemical engineering.

About Me

I was born and raised in Tucson Arizona. My parents have always emphasized the importance of a good education, so I have worked hard in all my studies. My favorite sport is chess (and yes it is a sport). I also enjoy doing archery. I have also worked for Walmart for about six months in an effort to get money to help pay for my mission. I took six years of Mandarin in high school. I really enjoy doing activities with my family, and have been blessed to have both sets of grandparents also live in Tucson. After my mission, I am going to double major in chemical engineering and economics. I was very blessed to receive a full ride scholarship to college for my undergraduate degree. I am also an eagle scout, and for my project, I helped build a ranch entry gateway at a state park in Arizona. It is there to honor the Civil War battle that took place there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not a convert to the church, as I was raised by two parents who were very strong in the gospel. Even so, I can say with an absolute surety that I have gained a witness and a testimony of the truthfulness of the church on my own. I have read the Book of Mormon several times, and know its words to be true. For this reason, I have decided to accept the Lord's call to serve a mission. I have been blessed with a calling to Hanoi Vietnam and I am excited to be able to serve the people there. I am anxious to do the Lord's work, and although I do feel a bit overwhelmed currently, I know with the Lord on my side I can do anything.

How I live my faith

I have always actively attended church in my home ward. In my most recent years (ages 12-18) I have helped with admistering the Sacrament, be that from blessing it to helping pass it to the congregation. I have served in multiple presidency callings as a deacon and teacher, including being the president of the teacher's quorom. I was also the secretary on the seminary council, and I tried to help plan activities that would further engage the youth in attending and learning of the gospel. Recently I have been called to serve in the Hanoi Vietnam mission for the next two years. I am excited to serve the Lord and the people of Vietnam in any way I can.
