Hi I'm Don Lester

I grew up in Utah. I'm a retired HR professional for a Fortune 100 company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since retiring I have moved from a major metropolitan area to a small community in southwestern Utah. This area has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, a small university, world class Shakespeare theater and solitude. My hobbies include birding, teaching a shop class, gardening and giving service in my community. I consider myself to be a life long learner.

Why I am a Mormon

While I grew up in the Mormon culture, I found great personal peace as I learned about Jesus Christ in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon, another witness of Jesus Christ. I learned and after Christ's death there was an apostasy from his teachings found in the New Testament which necessitated Jesus Christ restoring his church to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have a simple testimony that this is true because God has confirmed this to me through the Holy Ghost. This testimony brings with it indescribable joy which fills my heart and sustains me when things get rough.

How I live my faith

I have always believed in God and at a young age made it my life's mission to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I have served as a bishop (unpaid minister) of two congregations. One in Texas, the other in Utah. In this capacity I lead youth groups, organized worship services, administer church assistance to the poor and provided ministerial counseling to my congregation. But much more importantly, I try to follow the example of my savior Jesus Christ in my daily activities.
