Hi I'm Maya

I love burgers and cheetos. I'm half Tongan. I love my puppy nephew. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Anyone who knows me can tell you that I'm always laughing. Any and everything is a silly little joke to me. I'm a quirky person who is easily invested in whatever she does. Just like is tells us to do in D&C 58:27 when it says be "anxiously engaged in a good cause", I am anxiously engaged in everything from working to choosing a movie to watch at night. To be able to be alive in this world is such an incredible blessing and I love every second of it. I have not always been a happy person however. During a rough time in my life, I had begun to feel that life was not worth living anymore. Spiraling into a massive bout of depression, I had so many questions abou my self worth, and lost all desire to do anything. I know for many people this is not uncommon, and like many, I did not feel that there was an escape or solution. One summer, during my sophomore year, a time when my depression was particularly taxing, I went to a youth conference. While most of it was ok, I did not feel a change, until a guest singer took the time to bear his testimony. In his testimony, he proclaimed his deep love for the savior and how he knew he loved each and every one of us. After stating this, it seemed that he looked right at me, and he said "Jesus loves YOU and he needs you to be ready for what he has planned, let him show you his love". I knew God was speaking to me and that he loved me and that was I needed to change my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because, well, how can I not be? My whole life is an example of the blessings HEavenly Father has given to me and to ignore that would be showing such ungratefulness to him. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church and because I believe that, I am a mormon.

How I live my faith

After receiving what seemed such an undeniable message from God, I ran up to the guest singer and told him I was going to serve a mission. Two years later, long forgetting the proclamation I had made to serve a misison, I went to BYU for my first year of college. After completing my first year I received a prompting to serve a mission and so, after much prayer and a little arguing with myself, I finally made the decision to serve a mission. On the 26th of August 2017, I opened my mission call to the Peru Lima North mission and I will be reporting on November 7th,2017. It's been a long journey to reach this point but I am excited to draw nearer to Heavenly Father through my service to his children.
