Hi I'm Kayden

I live in Utah. I am a chess player and a Grand Master. I have traveled all around the world because of my chess. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old and preparing to serve a mission in Brisbane Australia. I started playing chess when I was three years old from watching my dad and brothers play. I started traveling for chess when I was 8 and won my first International competition at 11. In 2012, I had the amazing experience of winning the U14 World Youth Championship in Slovenia. I became a Grand Master which is the highest title you can obtain in chess at 16. At the time, I was the youngest Grand Master in the United States and the second youngest in the world. I have had many incredible opportunities to travel around the world because of my chess and have met many great people!!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, so it has always been part of my life. I became very familiar with the gospel principles and the Mormon teachings, but that personal testimony of why it's true was not something that just came magically from growing up in the Church. Why I am a Mormon? It Is not just by being a part of it, but living it and testing it. The more I do that, the more I believe it's true, and the more I want it to be a part of my life. It's building on that, that is why I am a Mormon. Building on that desire. It is through that that I have gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon, gained a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that we have a modern day Prophet. It is through that that I have gained a testimony of Christ, that he loved us enough to die for us, and suffered for us through the Atonement. Through having that desire and acting on it. I am definitely not perfect, and won't pretend it makes life easy, but I know that it makes life easier. I'm glad to be a Mormon, I have a testimony of its truthfulness, and am grateful that is part of my life.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned, I have had the chance to travel all over the world because of my chess. This has given me the great opportunity to meet lots of different kinds of people from different cultures and beliefs. I have benefited greatly from this. I enjoy discovering our similarities and learning from our differences. Every where I go and every one I meet I try be an example of those things that I believe; to share with others the joy the gospel of Jesus Christ has given me. I don't know where I would be without the people who have helped me in my life so I have tried always to do the same for all those I met and associate with.
