Hi I'm Erika

I'm 19 years old. I live in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the younger sister of two. I was born in Massachusetts but raised in Southern California. I grew up playing competitive soccer and volleyball on travel teams and singing in auditioned choirs. I just finished my first year of college at Brigham Young University-Idaho as a Psychology Major.

Why I am a Mormon

With both of my parents being Mormon, i grew up being Mormon and the was simply what I knew. But also growing up in California, I was challenged a lot from my friends and classmates who questioned my faith. I had to start looking as to why I belonged as a member of His church. Many people state that we have a lot off rules and commandments and that is seems to be restricting, but I found it to be quite the opposite. I found that obedience brings liberty, for example, with our health code that we follow. The substances that we avoid can all lead to addiction which limits our free will, but if we refrain from those substances, we have our free will and not be controlled by our addictions. I learned that His gospel is all thought out, and there is a reason for everything and that there is a plan for all of us. That is what I love. That Heavenly Father has set out a plan that we can follow to progress as beings. I love that this plan acknowledges that we are human, we are imperfect and so we will make mistakes. But our mistakes can be amended through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I hope the hope behind it all. I have a testimony of the gospel, I know that it is right and true, and I'm so grateful for the blessings that have come into my life from choosing to follow Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Growing up as a Mormon in California, there weren't a lot of kids who shared the same faith with me and so our youth groups were very small but I held leadership roles in the youth. In college, I also held a leadership role in college as an activities director for weekly activities.
