Hi I'm Spencer Young

I grew up in Seattle. I attend college at Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy singing, acting, playing the piano, running, basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee. I currently attend BYU in Provo, Utah. I have not yet declared my major, but I plan to study Accounting. I am from a family of seven (mom, dad, four sisters). As the only boy (and the middle child), I had a unique experience growing up, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love my family, I love my life, and I love this gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith, and that has profoundly shaped my life. I was baptized at the age of eight. I've always had a testimony, but it has wavered at various points over the years. I've always been able to come back to my faith in the Book of Mormon. About six years ago, I decided to take Moroni's challenge (described in Moroni 10:3-5). I read the entire Book of Mormon, with real intent, and after completing it, prayed to know of its truth. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm and peace, which I knew was the Spirit testifying the validity of that book to me. If the Book of Mormon is true, Joseph Smith was a prophet. If Joseph Smith was a prophet, the church that he set up must be of God. This is my testimony, in its most basic form.

How I live my faith

I have served as a home teacher ever since the age of fourteen, visiting various families in my ward and sharing a gospel message with them (as well as tending to whatever needs they have). I will be a full-time missionary starting January 3rd, 2018.
