Hi I'm Katie

Hi! I'm Katie- I am a creative and love to make music and art, and I am a Special Education Major at BYU-Idaho. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a creator, and I love to make music- I have played the Alto Saxophone for 8 years and the Piano for about 15. I also love art, and really want to pursue it farther for the common good. I have some ideas, so we'll see how it goes after the mission! I have attended BYU-Idaho for 2 semesters as a major in Special Education with a Math emphasis, but put my education on pause so that I could serve in the Mexico, Mexico City West Mission. I grew up in the LDS church, and I love it and know it's true. I also love to learn and try new things and meet new people, so going on a mission to preach to the people about Jesus Christ, as well as improving my Spanish and learning about Spanish culture is definitely an experience that I am excited for.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon, so I guess when I was younger I would say that I go to church on Sunday, and that was why I was a Mormon. But I remember in early High School and late middle school, I was really insecure and confused. I didn't know if people liked me or not, and I felt awfully lonely and very sad. I spent a lot of time in those 2 or 3 years praying and trying to figure out who I was and who actually liked me, if they did. I was awfully quiet. In my sophomore year of High School I began studying the Book of Mormon in Seminary and I got happier! The Book of Mormon gave me a joyous feeling that The Bible did not. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that if you read it, you will feel joy as well. Most importantly, I realized the love that God has for me, and that no matter what, He will always be there for you, no matter where you are or how lonely you may feel. I am a Mormon because I know that we have a God that loves us and wants us to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

Sometimes it is very difficult, but staying on the correct path and feeling joy every day and being side by side with Heavenly Father is very important to me. I strive to feel His spirit and His love for me and for others every day, because I love Him and strive to become better. It sometimes seems silly to do the things the Spirit tells you to do, kind of like a gut feeling, but I believe these promptings are correct and true, and I know that they, when followed faithfully, will help you and guide you throughout your life.
