Hi I'm Emily Seegrist

I grew up in different parts of Utah and Texas. I am a certified EMT. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to school to become a doctor in emergency medicine, and am currently an EMT. I love reading, and will read just about anything I can get my hands on. My favorites are dystopian and science fiction novels. I have been called to serve a mission in the Houston Texas East Mission, and leave for the MTC in October. I am so excited to serve and can't wait to get started.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because this church gives hope to those who would otherwise feel lost. There is just so much love to be felt, and I know that there will be life after death, where I'll be able to see those loved ones I've lost. I find comfort in tragedy, as I know that the dead return to God and no longer suffer Earthly trials. I believe in our living Prophet, who gives us insight as to how we should live our lives. I can not believe that God would leave us to our own devices after sending His only Begotten Son to save us. I love to hear General Conference talks, where I always feel the Holy Ghost whisper to me and feel that there is at least one talk that answers my prayers specifically.

How I live my faith

I am living my faith by choosing to serve a mission for the Lord. I have been called to the Houston Texas East Mission, where I'll be speaking Spanish. My hope is that I'll be helping people learn of this amazing gospel and feel the love of Christ as I have.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Emily Seegrist
What the Official Church Answer says is correct, but in addition, the Gospel of the LDS faith is liberating in the fact that, if living worthily, there aren't addictions to worldly things, like alcohol, caffeine, or drugs. By living the Word of Wisdom, I am living a healthy lifestyle, where I am free to do the things I'd like to, without becoming endangered. All of the guidelines set forth by the church are set in place to protect us from evil and bad decisions. In other words, Mormons live the same way as everyone else in their community, just with added blessings and freedom from confinements. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Emily Seegrist
The Bible was given to man as a gift from God, and therefore is Holy Scripture, as all things from God are holy. Like a puzzle, the Bible plays a key part in the whole of the LDS church, as do other sacred scriptures like the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. God gave the Bible to man through Prophets, and because Heavenly Father is the same "yesterday and today and forever", He continues to give scripture to His children through Prophets today.
