Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in Utah. I am currently preparing for a mission to New Zealand. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college in English. I taught High School and Jr. High School English for about 20 years. I am a mother of seven and grandmother of twenty-four. I am now retired and spend my time reading, sewing, exercising, and playing games. I especially love spending time with my children and grandchildren. I am currently preparing to serve a mission for the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to grow up with the gospel in my home and community, but I have had to come to a knowledge of the truth of it personally. As I have read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, and prayed to know of the truthfulness of the gospel, I have come to know it is true. I am so happy to have the opportunity to share the gospel in all it's fullness to the people of another country and faith. I know that God lives, that his son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to atone for our sins and was resurrected so the rest of His Father's children could be. I know that the gospel has been restored in our day as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to a young man, Joseph Smith, in New York, USA and gave His children the gospel in its fullness. I know the Book of Mormon is true and challenge everyone to read it and feel of its goodness and truthfulness. It brings us closer to the Savior. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My calling in the ward is leading the choir. This has been a wonderful opportunity that I would never have anticipated. I have had almost no formal musical training (although I loved my eighth grade music class and singing in ward choirs). When I was asked to do this work, I was overcome with inadequacy, but it has been such a joy. The Lord has blessed me with strengths to make up for my weaknesses and the wonderful members of the choir have stepped up to perform beautifully. I have loved it. I have been a visiting teacher for 48 years and it has also been a blessing in my life as I have become acquainted with a variety of women I would probably not otherwise know. I have loved it. I have been asked to organize several community events to celebrate our town and our church giving me the chance to serve many. I have loved it. I find much joy in serving in my church.
