Hi I'm Cathlene

I am preparing to serve in the Virginia Chesapeake Mission and I will be preaching the gospel in the Spanish language.

About Me

Music and books are two of many of my joys in life because they can be very uplifting. I've had the opportunity to be in band in elementary school and a musical while in high school, but it would be wonderful to play an instrument or character again soon. I am grateful that I was able to complete an Associate of Arts degree through dual enrollment because it prepared me for life-long learning. After I return from my mission, I'm hoping to attend a university and would like to get my Bachelors in English and a Minor in Editing. I'm excited to be more independent and continue to learn about everything that I can and am interested in.

Why I am a Mormon

When people ask me what my beliefs are or why I am a Mormon, I think about the power of prayer. Countless times, I have witnessed answers to my prayers or the prayers of others. I cannot and would never be able to deny any of those experiences. Prayer has gotten me through some very tough things in my life and it's calming to talk out how you feel and ask questions. I always feel so much better after talking it out. Even though the answers are in God's time (and you usually want a response right away), I know that I will hear, feel, or see something at some point. I am that person sometimes who doesn't want to wait, but it's important to be patient because maybe you don't need an answer at that moment. I've found that the right response comes at the right time. He knows when you need it and He will never put you through something that you can't handle.

How I live my faith

I have been able to do a great amount of service through the Church. I really enjoy helping people-- it's one of my greatest passions in life. There have been many opportunities to put together packages of food for children and families in third-world countries, feed the homeless, and even help people in my own area through tough times. It makes me feel the love that God has for each of us and I get to be closer to Him and the people I serve. I love getting to know others because their stories help me through my life. Their experiences are what inspire me to continue to serve and be a good example to others so that they may understand the joy and the love I feel. I am currently a leader in the Young Women's Program, so it is even more important to me that I act as a good example. They're learning how to make friends, get through their struggles, and figure out their standards and beliefs. I want them to be strong in what they stand for and to grow. I am very honored to be someone they look up to and I'm so proud when they accomplish their goals. I sure do learn a lot from them.
