Hi I'm Bonnie

I grew up in Lehi, Utah and have many pioneer ancestors who emigrated to Utah. I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 14.

About Me

I am a mother of three, grandmother of 13, and have one great grandchild. My hobbies include sewing, quilting, camping, ATV riding, herbal and natural healing, reading, and Family Search indexing. I worked part-time while my children were in school managing a rural public library and full time in larger library systems after my family was raised. I grew up on a fairly large dairy farm, riding horses, feeding baby animals, and working hard. I love the gospel and have served in many callings. My husband and I attend the temple often. We live in a small rural town, raise a garden, and enjoy the beautiful mountains. My favorite thing to do is get together with my children and grandchildren, fix food, camp, and enjoy being with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony of the gospel started to develop when I was young. My family and extended family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They provided me with many examples of how to live the gospel. At a very young age my grandmother would kneel with me as she prayed. Her prayers were always very specific, she seemed to know when I was sad or faced a big challenge. Her faith was amazing. After I married she continued to pray with me, I miss her. I love to hear the way converts gain their testimony, they share amazing conversion experiences. My conversion came slowly throughout my life. My testimony of tithing is an example. Growing up on a dairy farm involved hard work. I got paid for cleaning the milk barn and equipment in the morning. When we received our paychecks there were always tithing receipts and we all paid a full tithing. As a young mother life changed quickly and I needed to support my two children. An education became really important, I applied at Brigham Young University for a student loan and two hours later left with a full tuition scholarship. I attribute this great blessing to paying a full tithing. My testimony of keeping the Sabbath Day holy happened the same way. No matter the circumstances my father never did any extra work on Sunday. His example and faith to choose the right helped me gain a testimony of having faith to keep the commandments. My husband's devotion to and love of the Book of Mormon taught me of the great power of this book. After reading the book several times I can now testify of it's truthfulness and the power it gives to guide our lives. There are many instances where priesthood blessings were given to me and those I love. I have strong faith in the priesthood and am grateful for temple ordinances. I honor and sustain our prophet, President Monson and all who serve with him. Most important is my gratitude and love for my Savior, Jesus Christ and for His atoning sacrifice, I know he loves me.

How I live my faith

I love the gospel and have served in many callings. My favorite calling was teaching the 16-18-year-old youth in Sunday School, currently I teach the gospel to adults on Sunday. I love young children and enjoyed working with them for several years in scouting and youth organizations. I am a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoy volunteering in this organization. Over the past few years I have taught my granddaughters and great nieces to sew, they have entered items they made in 4-H at the county and state fairs. Two of my granddaughters really excelled at making quilts and received several purple ribbons at the state fair. Visiting teaching has been a part of my life since I was 18. My last visiting teaching companion faced many challenges in life, her love of visiting teaching was an inspiration to me. My husband and I have enjoyed doing genealogy and family history for the last three years. We both found several family names that needed temple work and have attended the temple often with our family to complete their work. I also enjoy indexing in Family Search and have indexed several thousand records. The family names we found were not available five years ago and because of Family Search Indexing we were able to identify many ancestors. We live in a small rural town with many annual traditions, I enjoy serving in the celebrations and events in our area.
