Hi I'm Becky Carlson

I grew up in upstate New York. I am a wife, a mother, and a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in upstate New York with my parents and seven siblings. I am the oldest. I always wanted to be a teacher. I went to college and got my teaching degree. I taught for one year before I was married. My husband and I have six children and fifteen grandchildren. When my youngest was in high school, I went back to teaching and taught for thirteen years before retiring. I love to do handiwork such as counted cross stitch and crocheting. I love to travel and I love family history.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon since my birth. My mom was a member, but my dad was not. He joined much later in life. However, my dad always took us to church and supported our many activities there. I am grateful to my mother for always being faithful and making church available to us. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and the guidelines it gives us to follow. I'm grateful to my parents for teaching me to pray and to love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for the opportunity that I have had to visit church sites and learn of the sacrifices made by the early members of the church and my ancestors. I am thankful that we have the Book of Mormon to study from and also the Bible. I have read and reread the scriptures and gain more insight each time. I know where I came from, why I am here and what my purpose is. I know where I will go when this life is over. I know I am a child of God and Jesus Christ is my elder brother. The knowledge gives me great comfort in my life.

How I live my faith

When I was in my teenage years, I was asked to play the piano for church services. This has been a constant throughout my life. I have played in different wards and branches where there wasn't a pianist present. I have taught in all organizations including the children, the teenagers, and the women's group. One of my favorite jobs was cub scouts, which I did for many years.
