Hi I'm Richard

I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and currently attend BYU-Idaho.

About Me

Currently, I feel as though I am struggling to find my "talent(s)" (Matt. 25:14-30), which has stalled my academic progress. In addition, it has also been a struggle to find a degree that will fit those talents and translate to success in the workforce.

Why I am a Mormon

As someone who was diagnosed with Autism, I abhor change. One of the great things is that the doctrine doesn't change regardless of where you are. I could be hearing a Sunday School lesson in Idaho one week, and then fly home to Ohio the next, and be able to hear a lesson from the same source that is only one or two weeks off due to conferences, etc.

How I live my faith

Ironically, my secular education was when I got my greatest exposure to community service. Starting from my freshman year of high school, I held a few different volunteer jobs, with the longest running job being my electronic waste recycling job, which I held for almost seven years. At some point, I feel it would be nice to join BYU-Idaho's student activities program to give back, as well as build my resume.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Richard
In short, like most of their humanitarian efforts, it is to help people help themselves, rather than to just be a handout without returning the favor or paying it forward. They "teach a man to fish," rather than "Give a man a fish." Show more Show less
